While I sort of stumbled over your blog, I don't think it was by accident. I am the mother of a 4 month old and breast feeding has been a struggle, but I am determined. My husband and I are missionaries in southern Argentina and I have not had the support of a breast feeding consultant. When our son dropped more than 10% of his birth weight by his first checkup we were told to begin supplementing. We did this, but I continued to breast feed and pump to try to increase my milk supply. I thought I had been drinking enough fluids, but when I increased my intake to 3-4 liters when he was 6 weeks old I finally could produce enough. We got off the supplement and packed the pump away. We were doing fine until I came down with a bad cold and once again could not produce enough. Once again our son was not gaining enough and we started the supplement again. I made sure to drink 4 liters of water, but even now that I have recovered and even increased to 5 liters in the last day I cannot seem to provide all he needs. I have not been restricting my diet. I have been running every other day since he was 2 months, but have backed off.

I guess you can link me into the category of those seeking free advice, but I don't really have anyone close by to contact. Do you have any advice?
